from the depths, between ourselves

This piece is, in its simplest essence, a conversation. The musical form takes after that of a possible, hypothetical, good conversation. It tries to emulate feelings one can have when connecting with another, feelings that come from the depths of our authentic selves and occur between ourselves.

This hypothetical conversation goes like this: It begins, maybe with a warm and comforting question. There’s no tension. And it flows into a possibly hard or maybe more sad, angry, or grieving topic for a while. There is lots of rhythmic tension and dissonance that can depict various things; it may be imitating discourse, timelessness, or a multitude of other feelings. It is up to your interpretation to decide what that dissonance means. At some point, we find resolution. All parties involved feel heard. And the conversation continues with a sense of excited uncertainty as to where it is heading. Many new topics shoot out in the air; some only for a brief second, never to be heard again! Things are starting to get exciting, everything is flowing effortlessly, and it’s all fast and ever-changing. At some point, the conversation is soaring like a bird in the sky, full of pure joy and bliss! Time becomes nonexistent. Some may ask but never know the answer to, “how long have we even been talking?” As the conversation seems to slow down and come to an end, there is a yearning for more, a longing. “Why does it have to end?” Eventually, it does come to an end, with ease and an irreplaceable feeling of being heard; “I see you.” And at last, one of the most beautiful things to experience with another is as loud as ever: silence.
