“into the other” is a concert of completely original music and spoken word poetry by Missoula composer Owen Kirby. This concert will feature songs in a wild array of genres, including synth, funk, pop, and a theatrical saxophone and voice duet. As a finale, a full orchestra will perform into the other, an ethereal soundscape that rides the line between complete groove and chaos, and explodes with gratitude. The concert’s theme focuses on feelings of playfulness, self-discovery, and chaos — all tying back to the idea of moving into the other, which can mean a multitude of things. Owen’s music is deeply inspired by both the human experience and the natural world. This concert is the finale to his undergraduate degree in composition as he sets out on his music career. It will be a wild night with fun and unexpected musical sounds you won’t want to miss!
